The nominees for the 2019 National Student Media Awards were announced little under an hour ago.
University of Limerick has secured eleven nominations overall across eight separate categories.
Both UL student newspapers, An Focal and The Limerick Voice, received nominations in this year’s Website of the Year category.
An Focal are also listed in the People’s Choice award which readers can vote for here.
The fourth year journalism paper, The Limerick Voice also earned itself a nomination in the Best Layout and Design Category.
The 2019 Smedias will take place on April 11th, 2019 in the Aviva Stadium at 7pm.
Newspaper of the Year and Editor of the Year have yet to be announced.

Aisling O’Connor has been nominated for Blog/Vlog of the Year for her literary blog, This Dream’s Alive.
Scholarship student from Beijing Sports University, Mingyang Pang, is nominated for Sports Photographer of the Year.
Social Media manager for The Limerick Voice, Federica Montella is nominated for Arts & Culture Features Writer.
News & Features reporter for The Limerick Voice, Emil Trahan is nominated for Radio Production – News & Current Affairs.
Kathleen O’Sullivan received a nomination in the News & Current Affairs – Feature Writer category.
Ronan Coughlan and Ivan Smyth received a nod in the Radio Production – Arts & Features category for their sports show on ULFM Beyond The Game
Last, but not least, both fourth year students from UL Journalism, Evie Kearney and Muireann Duffy are nominated for the prestigious, Journalist of the Year category.
